Mototag

Currently, Florida's statutes don't allow license tags with a portrait orientation. This is my PhotoShop mock-up for the creation of a portrait license tag I'd like to see sponsored by a new bill submitted in the Senate for use on motorcycles, and an accompanying larger size for trailers.

Often for a trailer a practical mounting location for its tag is on the rear of the trailer's wheel well, but individuals mounting a traditional tag in the vertical orientation to match the width of the wheel can receive a warning or a ticket from law enforcement for improper display of the tag.

Sponsoring the bill could create a new portrait tag which would be better suited for mounting on certain styles of motorcycles and better suited for conveniently mounting on the thin wheel wells of trailers. The numbering on the portrait designs will be easily readable.

Having a choice of a vertical or a horizontal tag orientation to use on a vehicle would address needs including those above, as well as design specifics for different vehicles, plus accommodating different aesthetic tastes, and eliminate individuals receiving tickets for tags which are improperly mounted in the wrong orientation on trailers and motorcycles, providing a new and equitable solution where none existed before.
