I've Learned...

I've learned how much I love being near water.8/19/2008%

I've learned how much I love being outdoors.

I've learned that minimalism is not for me.8/12/2008%

I've learned that my childhood impressions of a Higher Power is very similar to how I felt about my parents and how I related to them.

I've learned that it's okay to fire my Higher Power and to create a new, different, and better Replacement.

I've learned that living life small has never benefited anyone. I've learned that lighting a lamp in the dark works best for everyone when the lamp is lifted up and set on a high shelf.

I've learned that I enjoy receiving intangibles more than I enjoy receiving material gifts.

I've learned that I get more pleasure and have more fun finding the smallest gift possible for someone than trying to get the largest gift possible.

I've learned when I count the number of pictures I take that have people in them compared to the number of pictures I take that have things or places in them, that the way I take photos tells me if people or things are more important to me in my life.

I've learned that I care more about people now than when I was younger.

I've learned that my biggest lessons about trust have been about learning what it means to trust myself and learning how to trust myself.

I've learned--many times--that life is about the people in my life, not the places or things.

I've learned when I think my way through life, that the day seems to flit past without connection, while living my life in the moment, feeling it, and trusting my heart, that time slows down, mere moments open themselves up, and seconds expand into hours.

I've learned that I grew up thinking my way through life.

I've learned that my mind seems to have a finite capacity, yet my heart has infinite space, and that my heart has even more space when the two are working together.

I've learned that much of life's wisdom is bookmarked by paradox. (John Denosky)

I've learned that I don't pay to own anything--I'm just giving away money for the seeming right to use it for a while and to entertain a fantasy where I call it mine.

I've learned that I belong to the world--the world doesn't belong to me.

I've learned that I came into the world with nothing, and although I'll leave with exactly the same amount, I'll perhaps take more away with me than I could ever have possibly imagined.

I've learned that everything I have will some day be given away, and perhaps because of that, I've learned that the intangibles in my life are more far more valuable than the things I can touch.
